This main bedroom was a finalist in the Best Design Awards 2020, and a finalist in the NZ House & Garden Best Interiors 2019.
When Donna re-imagined this master bedroom, two things were key : that the décor not detract from the garden view and that existing favourite furniture and accessories were re-used.
Central to the design was a commissioned oil painting by Tatjana Este and a Mororccan-style pendant light that had been gifted to the owners.
In Donna’s travels she’d come across a fabric with camels which she’d always loved. She used it for cushions to tie in both the beautiful colours in the art and the Mororccan-style pendant.
The final touch was a Kentia palm along with palm leaf bedside lamps.
The NZ House & Garden judges said “Working with existing pieces to create an eclectic look is hard to pull off. This room has a romantic and colonial feel.”
