One of my clients was bought up living and breathing wallpaper, because his parents owned a wallpaper business in the UK. So, it was inevitable that the grand double-void entry should be wallpapered.
To emphasize the height of the double void ceiling, Donna chose a striped wallpaper and hung it vertically. For added elegance each stripe in the wallpaper has an edge of metallic gold. The gold sparkles under both natural and artificial light. The vertical lines of the wallpaper are repeated in the vertical line of the balustrades, and so continue the repetition of style.
The floorboards and handrail were sanded back and stained in a dark colour to create moodiness, and a reiteration of the limited colour palette. A Designer Rug by Greg Natale repeats the duplication of colour, and the theme of the straight line.
A large black and gold artichoke ceiling pendant, and the circular wall sculpture introduce curves into the entry, and echo the touch of gold seen in the wallpaper. The wall sculpture art is made of intricately, and delicately twisted gold thread.
