Orewa Beach House

This project was a finalist in the International Dulux Colour Awards – Residential Exterior.

The owners asked that the colours be different from the neighbouring properties, whilst remaining sympathetic to them, and to the environment.

The colour of the sea and the sky change constantly and so I specified a blue-green for the exterior plaster.  The colour also blends with the taupes and beiges of neighbouring properties.

Rather than specifying a sofiet in predictable white, that may have jarred the senses, I chose a deep blue-green.  The front door is an even deeper hue of this colour.  The quiet strength of the colours are held together with Silver Pearl joinery, garage doors, and louvered screens.
